Scholars from across Africa reflect on the continent’s urban futures. This discussion builds on the IJURR Spotlight On Africa’s Urban Futures, which includes six essays showcasing the exciting new directions that urban research is taking in Africa.

Authors Divine Asafo, Liza Cirolia, Claudia Gastrow, Prince Guma, and Wangui Kimari each discussed their contributions on incremental environmentalism, the politics of urban aesthetics, the lived experience of the entrepreneurial city, the possibilities and challenges of digital infrastructures, and the nature of the urban state and peri-urban land markets.
