We invite you to engage with IJURR at the 2025 American Association of Geographers (AAG) in Detroit, March 24 – March 28, 2025. Please stop by our table (Booth #314) in the exhibition area where we’ll have copies of the journal and books from IJURR’s Studies in Comparative Urban Change (SUSC) book series for you to browse.
If you are thinking of submitting your AAG paper (or another piece) to IJURR, then please stop by to chat with an IJURR editor. Three of us (Mona Fawaz, Nik Theodore and Liza Weinstein) will be at the AAG and available to chat at the IJURR table at the following times:
- Tuesday, March 25, 9.30-10.30 am
- Wednesday, March 26, 3:00-4:00 pm
- Thursday, March 27, 1:00-3:00 pm
In the meantime, we invite you to read through the Virtual Issue on Detroit we’ve compiled for the occasion. Centered on the themes of race, capitalism and resistance, we have made 14 articles/Intervention pieces free-to-view to for 90 days, along with reviews of six books on Detroit. As we visit Detroit, we invite you revisit these pieces and reflect on what is both distinctive about the city and how its conditions, contestations, and future-making projects can help us better understand racialized structures and practices of capitalist urbanization.
